Healthy Printing Symposium Exceeds Expectations

The Healthy Printing Symposium in Lüneburg on September 14, 2018 was a success, exceeding attendance expectations and announcing new global initiatives. Thanks to many frontrunners from different sectors, we were able to set up an ambitious programme that attracted more than 100 stakeholders from the whole supply chain and beyond. Having so many stakeholders with a shared goal and willingness to move forward created optimism for the initiative’s future development.

Among the participants were well-known printers, ink manufacturers, representatives of large retail chains and publishers as well as recyclers and NGOs. Pilot projects on healthy printing were presented and panel discussions as well as interactive formats lead to lively discussions, for example on possibilities of improved recovery and high-quality recycling of paper products.

The Healthy Printing Symposium was an associated event with the Cradle to Cradle Congress 2018. We want to express our special thanks to the great team of the Cradle to Cradle e.V. for their excellent support in setting up the event. The Cradle to Cradle e.V. is a non-for-profit organization which supports itself via donations and active participation of volunteers.

Greener Green: Carlsberg healthy printing inks for bottle labels launched globally

A highlight at the HP Symposium was the announcement by brewing group Carlsberg that they are rolling out healthy printing inks for the labels of their core brand Carlsberg globally. This ambitious goal was started through intensive cooperation and development work with the ink manufacturer hubergroup and the Töpfer printing company under the scientific supervision of EPEA. The Greener Green ink will meet the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ standard at Silver Level. Another great example of how supply chain cooperation leads to future-oriented solutions.
